About Boys & Girls Clubs

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County (BGCGTC) is committed to being the premier youth development organization in our community, a low-cost or free resource available to all, providing a safe and welcoming environment where children and teens are respected and valued. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Its purpose is simple: to enable Club members to achieve substantially better outcomes in the areas of academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Annually, BGCGTC serves more than 28,000 Tarrant County youth ages 4-24 with after-school and summer programs, substance abuse prevention programs, a progressive gang-intervention program, and targeted outreach and college preparation services in schools. Target neighborhoods are historically low income, with low educational attainment, high unemployment, and associated high rates of illegal activity, including gangs and substance abuse. The median household income in the areas the Club serves is under $35,000, and 78% of Club kids are on the free or reduced lunch program in their schools.

The Club’s very existence harkens back to 1926 when a group of compassionate and concerned citizens sought to effect positive change for youth. Since that time—through the many good times the nation has enjoyed and the challenging times it has endured—the Club has honored that legacy. The organization remains steadfast in its vision to provide a world-class Club Experience that ensures success is within reach of every young person who enters the Club doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County remained a pillar of consistency in the lives of the youth in our community. The Club quickly and effectively pivoted their service model multiple times to provide services most needed by our community during the pandemic. In 2020, BGCGTC served the community as a drive-thru food bank, a mobile meal delivery service, a safe and fun summer camp that allowed parents to keep working, a Virtual Learning Center that provided kids a place to go during the school day, and more. Through every challenge, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County has been there for kids and families, offering the most impactful and relevant solutions to position Tarrant County youth for success. In 2021 the clubs rolled out new mobile club experiences to give access to more youth across Tarrant County.
